What is blended learning?
Blended learning pairs online educational materials and other elements of remote learning with in-person learning. By combining different types of learning experiences, the blended learning model gives both learners and instructors a variety of different methods and mediums to explore content.
Example: For our Sales professional development training, we created a blended learning experience. In-person seminars were paired with online courses where learners could practice their skills in a low-risk environment.
Blended learning models can be applied to a variety of educational scenarios, including schools and universities, workplaces, and more. While blended learning is sometimes used interchangeably with hybrid learning, these are often conceptualized as separate models.
Blended learning strategies: The importance of interactivity
Successful blended learning programs prioritize interactivity in both in-person and online learning opportunities. Course creators can make space for interaction online by incorporating practice scenarios and other e-learning activities into their digital instruction. For example, a blended learning program might offer opportunities for students to practice complex scenarios with each other both online via breakout rooms and in person via small group discussions.
