What is natural language processing?

Natural language processing (NLP) refers to a computer program’s ability to understand and manipulate human language using statistical methods. A field of computer science and artificial intelligence (AI), it involves tasks like recognizing language patterns, classifying text, interpreting the meaning of human language, translating human language, sentiment analysis, and natural language generation.

Example: They used NLP techniques to identify themes in the language used in customer product reviews. 

How is natural language processing used?

Natural language processing is used in a variety of tools today. These include text-to-speech applications, virtual assistants, text predictors, grammar tools, automatic translation tools, email spam filtering tools, and more.
