What is a yes/no assessment?

A yes-no assessment is a type of quiz question where learners must choose between two answers: yes and no. Common in e-learning tests and quizzes, this type of assessment is ideal for simple course content or helping people choose between preferred and nonpreferred items.

Example: Each lesson was concluded with a yes/no assessment to help reinforce course material and improve knowledge retention.

Best practices for creating yes/no assessments

When writing yes/no assessments, it’s key to use them in the right context. Additionally, avoid asking vague or abstract questions—rather, make questions clear and concrete to avoid confusion.

Provide immediate feedback on the correct response to the question, especially if learners answer incorrectly. This can give learners the opportunity to respond correctly on subsequent tries.
