What is Storyline 360?

Storyline 360 empowers you to create any interactive e-learning course you can imagine for any device imaginable, from desktop and laptop computers to tablets and smartphones.

Storyline 360 is part of Articulate 360, which has everything you need for the entire course authoring process. An annual subscription service, it’ll provide you with continuous feature updates to Storyline. Articulate 360 includes the latest version of Storyline, our new web-based responsive authoring tool called Rise 360, plus all of our other authoring tools. It also includes 17+ million course assets, an easy-to-use project review app, and live online training with industry experts.

How do I install and update Storyline 360?

We made it super simple to install and update Storyline 360.

First, install the Articulate 360 desktop app and sign in with your Articulate ID email address and password. Then, click the Install button for each app you want to install, such as Storyline 360.

The Articulate 360 desktop app will notify you when updates are available. Just click the Update button for each app that has a new update.

Can I install Storyline 360 on my Mac?

Mac users with Intel processors can install Storyline 360 in Parallels Desktop, VMware Fusion, or Apple Boot Camp. If you have an Apple M-series chip, we have updates here.

Is there a silent installer for Storyline 360?

Yes. We've prepared an MSI file and a detailed deployment guide for centrally-managed installations of Articulate 360 apps. Contact us for details.

How do I activate Storyline 360?

It's easy. Just sign into the Articulate 360 desktop app with your Articulate ID email address and password.

If you have an active subscription, Storyline 360 will automatically work as expected. If your subscription has expired, Storyline will no longer work, but you can re-enable it by renewing your subscription.

Do I have to be connected to the internet to use Storyline 360?

Initially, you must be online to sign into the Articulate 360 desktop app, which allows you to install and use Storyline 360. Thereafter, you can use Storyline offline up to 99 days at a time (or 30 days for free trials).

If you're offline longer than 99 consecutive days, Storyline will stop working. To re-enable it, simply connect to the internet and sign into Articulate 360.

As long as you're online, you can use Storyline without interruption. If you go offline (for example, when you're traveling), the 99-day clock begins, allowing you to use it offline. The 99-day clock resets each time you connect to the internet and sign into Articulate 360.

My organization doesn't allow internet access at all. Can I use Articulate 360 offline?

Initially, you must be online long enough to sign into Articulate 360 and install the desktop-authoring apps, such as Storyline 360. Then you can use the apps offline up to 99 days at a time (or 30 days for free trials).

If you're offline longer than 99 consecutive days, the apps will stop working. To re-enable them, you'll need to connect to the internet long enough to sign into Articulate 360, which resets the 99-day offline clock.

Can Storyline 360 be installed on the same computer with previous versions of Storyline?

Yes. Storyline 360 can be installed side by side with Storyline 1, Storyline 2, and Storyline 3 on the same computer.

Can I upgrade my existing Storyline projects to Storyline 360?

Yes. Just open your existing Storyline 1, Storyline 2, and Storyline 3 projects with Storyline 360, then confirm that you want to upgrade them when prompted. It's that easy.

And don't worry. Backup copies of your original project files will automatically be created in case you need to go back later.

Can I edit Storyline 360 projects with previous versions of Storyline?

No. Storyline 360 projects can't be opened, edited, or published with Storyline 1 or 2.

Can the same project file be opened with Storyline 360 and Storyline 3 interchangeably?

Storyline 3 project files can always be opened with Storyline 360, which is the latest version of Storyline.

Can I collaborate with my team on Storyline 360 projects?

Members of your Articulate 360 Teams account can create a library of shared team slides that everyone can access right from Storyline 360. You can upload branded project templates, share slides that need to be in every course, and give teammates access to reusable slide content.

What happens to a user's team slides when he or she is removed from the team?

When users are removed from the team, their shared slides remain available for the team to browse, download, rename, and organize in folders. Admins who have been assigned to user seats can also delete and restore team slides. Learn more about team slides permissions.

How do I make embedded Engage interactions work in HTML5 output when I upgrade to Storyline 360?

Storyline 1 and 2 supported Engage interactions in Flash output only, but Storyline 360 supports Engage interactions in HTML5 output.

To take advantage of HTML5 support when you upgrade existing courses to Storyline 360, click Edit in Engage on the Storyline ribbon for each embedded interaction, then simply click Save and Return to Storyline on the Engage ribbon. That's it!

How does the responsive player work?

The all-new responsive player will automatically display when you view Storyline 360 HTML5 courses on tablets and smartphones. It adapts to the screen size and orientation of any mobile device for the best viewing experience—no extra work required. Just publish your course and let the player do all the work for you.

When you view the same Storyline 360 courses on desktop and laptop computers, the standard player will be used.
