Articulate Quizmaker lets you customize the default text used in messages and controls on your quiz's player. You can even switch your text labels to a completely different language.
To customize your text labels, go to the Home tab on the Quizmaker ribbon, and click Player.
When the Player Properties window appears, click Text Labels:
From here, you can customize individual text labels, switch all labels on your player to a different language, or switch to a previously saved set of text labels.
Customizing Individual Text Labels on Your Player
On the left side of the window, Quizmaker displays a list of all the text labels you can edit. For any item that you want to change, just type your preferred text in the Custom Text column.
If you'd like to send all the text labels to someone else to translate or modify, download this spreadsheet, which contains a complete list.
Saving Your Customized Text Labels
If you click OK after changing some text labels, the changes become part of the current quiz's player. If you want those same text labels to be available for use in other quizzes, do this:
- From the Text Labels section of the Player Properties window, click the Save button to the right of the Language selector.
- Choose a name for your new set of text labels and click Save.
This saves your text labels in Quizmaker's default location, but you can choose to save them to a different location. For example, maybe you'd prefer to save the labels to your desktop so that you can easily locate them later to share with a colleague or copy to a different computer. If you choose a location other than the default, however, the saved text labels won't appear in the Language drop-down for other quizzes you build. You'd need to use the Load button (the folder icon to the right of the Language drop-down) to find and reuse the labels in another quiz.
Switching to a Different Language
To switch to a completely different language or to a set of custom text labels you previously saved, use the Language drop-down to choose a set of labels. Quizmaker provides several language options in the Built In section of the list; the Custom section of the list contains text labels you've created and saved yourself.
If you previously saved a set of text labels and you're not seeing it in the list, you may have saved it in a location other than the default. Click the Load button (the folder icon to the right of the Language drop-down) to find it.
Saving Your Changes to the Player
If you click OK on the Player Properties window and save your quiz, Quizmaker saves your player customizations within your quiz file. It's a good practice, though, to save your player separately, so you can apply the same player customizations to other quizzes.
To save your player, click the Current Player button and choose Save. Enter a name for the player if you're prompted, and click OK.
For more details about using the Current Player options, see Saving Your Player or Switching to a Different One.
