Good news! Articulate Studio '13 is fully supported with Windows 10. If you install a new copy of Studio '13 on a Windows 10 computer, follow the standard activation instructions here.

However, if you upgrade an existing computer to Windows 10 with Studio '13 already installed, you may see this message when you launch your Studio apps:

Articulate Presenter has been deactivated. Please run as admin to reactivate.

You'll need to reactivate each app with administrative privileges to correct it. Follow the steps below.

Step 1: Locate Your Studio '13 Serial Number Before Upgrading Windows

Upgrading to Windows 10 may remove your serial number from the Studio '13 apps. Make sure you have a copy of your serial number handy before you upgrade.

A single serial number activates all the Studio '13 apps purchased with your license. If you've lost your serial number, use any of these articles to find it:

Step 2: Activate Articulate Presenter

After upgrading to Windows 10, activate Presenter in this manner:

  1. Close PowerPoint if it's open.
  2. Open your Start menu and locate your PowerPoint app.
  3. Right-click PowerPoint and choose Run as administrator. (In some versions of Windows 10, you need to right-click PowerPoint, scroll to More, then select Run as administrator.)
  4. User Account Control may ask, "Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer?" Click Yes.
  5. When PowerPoint opens, you should be prompted to activate Presenter. Follow these instructions.

If you aren't prompted to activate, go to the Articulate tab on the PowerPoint ribbon and click Options to force the activation screen to appear.

Step 3: Activate Articulate Quizmaker

Normally, you only need to activate one Studio '13 app with a valid serial number to activate to the whole suite. Upgrading your system to Windows 10 is an exception to this rule. You'll need to activate each app once.

After activating Presenter as described above, do this to activate Quizmaker:

  1. Close PowerPoint and all Articulate apps.
  2. Open your Start menu and locate your Quizmaker app.
  3. Right-click Quizmaker and choose Run as administrator. (In some versions of Windows 10, you need to right-click Quizmaker, scroll to More, then select Run as administrator.)
  4. User Account Control may ask, "Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer?" Click Yes.
  5. When prompted, follow these instructions to activate Quizmaker with your serial number.

Step 4: Activate Articulate Engage

Now activate Engage:

  1. Close PowerPoint and all Articulate apps.
  2. Open your Start menu and locate your Engage app.
  3. Right-click Engage and choose Run as administrator. (In some versions of Windows 10, you need to right-click Engage, scroll to More, then select Run as administrator.)
  4. User Account Control may ask, "Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer?" Click Yes.
  5. When prompted, follow these instructions to activate Engage with your serial number.
