How to Use the Articulate Updater for Chrome

The Articulate Updater for Chrome scans and updates your published courses so HTML5 output will work in Google Chrome 44 and later. (For new courses, install the latest update for your authoring app.)

Installing the Updater

  1. Download the Articulate Updater for Chrome and save it to your local computer.
  2. Right-click the installation file and choose Run as administrator.
  3. Follow the prompts to complete the installation.

Tip: The updater requires Windows Vista SP2 or later and Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 or later.

Updating Published Content on Your Computer or Network Drive

  1. Double-click the Articulate Chrome 44 Updater icon on your desktop.
  2. When the updater launches, click Begin Now.
  3. Choose your scanning options:
    • Select Scan this computer at the top of the window.
    • Mark Scan Zip Files if you also want to update zipped content.
    • Mark the drives you want to scan.
    • If there's a specific folder you want to scan, click the ellipsis (...) to browse for it.
  4. Click Start Scan.
  5. If the updater finds any files that need to be updated, click Continue to Step 2. If not, click Close.
  6. The updater identifies every player_compiled.js file that needs to be updated. Uncheck the boxes for any files you don't want to update.
  7. Click Update Selected Files. (A backup copy of each file will be created in the same folder.)
  8. Click Close.

Updating Published Content on a Website or LMS

  1. Double-click the Articulate Chrome 44 Updater icon on your desktop.
  2. When the updater launches, click Begin Now.
  3. Select Scan a website using FTP.
  4. Mark Scan Zip Files if you also want to update zipped content.
  5. Enter your FTP credentials, including server, port, user name, password, and folder. If you're not sure about these, ask your website or LMS administrator for help.
  6. Click Test connection to verify that your FTP credentials are correct.
  7. Click Start Scan.
  8. If the updater finds any files that need to be updated, click Continue to Step 2. If not, click Close.
  9. The updater identifies every player_compiled.js file that needs to be updated. Uncheck the boxes for any files you don't want to update.
  10. Click Update Selected Files. (A backup copy of each file will be created in the same folder.)
  11. Click Close.
