Importing Video Files

Video Encoder ’09 provides three methods for getting started with the software:

  • Importing an existing video file
  • Recording your webcam to create a new video file
  • Opening a recent video

All methods are available via the welcome screen when you launch the application.

Importing a video:

To begin working with Video Encoder ’09, choose one of the following options:

  • Import a video file: Click this link from the welcome screen to begin working with an existing video file. From the Open window, navigate to and select an existing video file, then click OK to open it in Video Encoder ’09. Supported file types include the following:
    • AVI Files:
      • .AVI
    • Windows Media Files:
      • .WMV
      • .ASF
    • QuickTime Files:
      • .MOV
      • .QT
    • MPEG Files:
      • .MPG
      • .MPE
      • .MPG
      • .M1V
      • .M2V
      • .M4V
      • .MP4
    • Digital Video Files:
      • .DV
    • 3G Video Files:
      • .3GP
      • .3G2
  • Record your webcam: Click this link to open the Record Webcam window and begin capturing live video from your webcam. To learn more, see Recording with Webcam.

Opening a recent video:

To open an existing project, click the name of one of your recent projects to open the video in Video Encoder ’09
