Non-Western characters in the published title do not display correctly in the browser title bar or tab

If the published title of your presentation includes non-Western characters, you may find that they do not display as expected in the web browser's title bar (or the browser tab).  You can correct this issue in the following manner:

  1. After publishing your presentation, open the player.html file in Notepad.
  2. Replace the text that appears between the <TITLE> tag and the </TITLE> tag with the correct non-Western characters.
  3. Go to File > Save As.
  4. In the Encoding drop-down list (at the bottom of the Save As dialog), select UTF-8, and click the Save button.
  5. Click the Yes button when prompted to replace the existing player.html file.

If the non-Western characters still do not display as expected in your web browser's title bar (or tab) after making the change noted above, it indicates that the computer may not have the appropriate language pack(s) installed and / or the web browser's encoding options are not configured correctly for UTF-8 encoding.
