PowerPoint becomes unresponsive if Slide Properties is left open for an extended period of time

If you leave Slide Properties open for an extended period of time, you may find that PowerPoint and the Slide Properties Manager become unresponsive.

If this issue occurs:

  1. Launch the Windows Task Manager by right-clicking the task bar (usually at the bottom of your screen) and selecting Task Manager (or Start Task Manager) from the shortcut menu that appears.
  2. Select the Processes tab.
  3. Select the AP6.exe service, and click the End Process button.
  4. When prompted, confirm your request by acknowledging the warning message.
  5. Close the Windows Task Manager.
  6. Save and close your PowerPoint presentation.
  7. Then open your PowerPoint presentation again to continue editing your project.

To avoid this issue:

If you need to do extensive work in the Slide Properties Manager, it is recommended that you save and close Slide Properties every 10 minutes or so to ensure that PowerPoint does not lock up.
