When the slide's notes extend beyond the notes reading pane, manual scrolling is required. Duplicating slides and spanning the slide notes across these duplicated slides will help create the illusion of a scrolling notes pane. Here's one way to do this:

  1. Determine how many slides will have to be duplicated to show the full text associated with the notes.
  2. Select the slide containing the slide notes, then select the Preview button.
  3. Note where the the text ends at the bottom of the preview pane before having to scroll.
  4. Highlight and cut the text from the slide notes in PowerPoint starting from the point noted in step 3 until the end and paste over the slide notes of a duplicate slide.
  5. Select the duplicated slide and again the Preview button.
  6. Repeat steps 3 through 5 until scrolling is no longer required.
  7. Open the Slide Properties and set the Advance column for all of the slides containing the spanned notes text to: Automatically.
