This help topic will cover all options and features available while working with Timeline interactions.

To create a Timeline interaction:

  1. Create a new interaction using one of the three available methods.
  2. Select Timeline from the left-hand list of interaction types.
  3. Click OK to start creating your interaction or Cancel to cancel creation of a new interaction.

The following toolbar options are available while working with a Timeline interaction:

  • Timeline Periods
    • Add Period: This will add a new period. The new period will always be added to the end but can be moved easily. This interaction type will allow you to add a maximum of 12 periods. Each period can have as many events as you like.
    • Delete Period: This will delete the currently selected period.
    • Move Period: You can move a period left and right as needed.
    • Period Color: A color is selected by default as you create new periods. To change the default selection, select a color of your choice from the Period Color pull-down menu.
  • Events
    • Add Event: This will add a new event to this Timeline interaction. For each event you can specify a title, text, narration, images and/or video. You can add unlimited events to each period.
    • Delete Event: This will delete the currently selected event.
    • Move Event: You can move an event left and right as needed. You can also move events by clicking and dragging the events into the desired position within the period.

The following additional features are available while working with a Timeline interaction:

  • Interaction Title: This is the interaction title for this project. This will display as the main interaction title in the published output. To change the title font, click the Interaction Properties button in the toolbar and select Colors and Effects. The Title Font setting will determine the font type used.
  • Period Name: This is the title displayed for the current period in your published output. Each period can have a separate name.
  • List: You can select any event in the current period by clicking List in the left corner. Clicking this option will display all events in a pull-down menu for easy and fast selection. You can also add an event via the List menu.
  • Tabs: Click a tab to make edits to that event of the interaction. Click the Add Event tab to add a new event to your interaction.
  • Title: This is the title displayed for the current event in your published output.
  • Event Text: This is the area where you add the text that you would like to display for the selected event. To format this text, use the wide variety of options available in the formatting toolbars directly above the text input field. Learn more in Formatting Text.
  • Audio: Use the Audio pane to record, import, or edit audio for each event of your interaction. Learn more in Adding Audio.
  • Media: Use the Media pane to add a video or image to each event of your interaction. Learn more in Adding Media.
