Viewing and Tracking Articulate Storyline 1 Content in Articulate Online

Article Last Updated Dec 07, 2015

This article applies to:

When publishing Articulate Storyline content for Articulate Online, you'll have options to include output for HTML5 and the Articulate Mobile Player app for iPad (in addition to the default Flash content). The version that users see when they launch the course and how it interacts with Articulate Online depends on two criteria:

  • The browser or device they're using to view the content
  • The output options you selected when you published

Flash

If users are viewing content in a browser that supports Flash, they'll see the Flash version of your content.

Flash content will be tracked and reported in Articulate Online. If you included HTML5 or Articulate Mobile Player output when you published, users will even be able to switch between the different versions without losing their progress or results in Articulate Online.

HTML5

If users are viewing content in a browser that does not support Flash and if you included HTML5 output, they'll see the HTML5 version of your course instead. (If they're viewing on an iPad, see the next section.)

HTML5 content will be tracked and reported in Articulate Online. In fact, users will even be able to switch between the Flash, HTML5, and Articulate Mobile Player versions of the content without losing their progress or results in Articulate Online.

Articulate Mobile Player app for iPad

If users are viewing content on an iPad and if you included output for the Articulate Mobile Player, the course will launch in the Articulate Mobile Player app. If they don't already have the app installed, they'll be prompted to install it.

However, if you did not include output for the Articulate Mobile Player but you did include HTML5 output, the course will launch in mobile Safari instead. (See the HTML5 section above.)

Articulate Mobile Player content will be tracked and reported in Articulate Online. In fact, users will even be able to switch between the Flash, HTML5, and Articulate Mobile Player versions of the content without losing their progress or results in Articulate Online.

Note: Support for tracking Articulate Mobile Player content in Articulate Online was added in Update 1 for Storyline. To take advantage of the new features and fixes, download and install the latest version of Storyline from the link in your product confirmation email, or get it here. Then republish your Storyline project.
