If you published your Storyline project to Microsoft Word but the Word document wasn’t actually created, the troubleshooting steps below may help.

  1. Save and publish the Storyline project files on your local hard drive. Learn more about working with project and asset files here.
  2. Check that your file structure and project name comply with Microsoft naming rules. For example, file paths and published output names can’t be more than 260 characters or contain special characters, accents, or symbols. Learn more about optimizing file paths and naming conventions here.
  3. Restore Microsoft Word’s File Block settings to default. Here's how:
    1. Open an existing Word document or create a new one.
    2. Go to the File tab on the ribbon and click Options.
    3. Select the Trust Center tab on the left side of the window.
    4. Click the Trust Center Settings button on the right side of the window.
    5. Select the File Block Settings tab on the left side of the window.
    6. Click Restore Defaults in the lower right corner. Ensure the “Word 2007 and later binary documents and templates” file type is not selected.
    7. Click OK three times to save your changes and exit Word Options.

If the "Restore Defaults" option is disabled or doesn't take effect even after clicking on it, you may be affected by a Group Policy Object (GPO) setting. Support can review your user logs to confirm that the GPO setting may be causing the issue. Once that is confirmed, you need to ask your IT department to remove or disable the setting.
