How the Right Training Tools Saved One Health Org $100k a Year
Discover online course authoring and frictionless distribution strategies from the largest nonprofit healthcare provider in the U.S. Intermountain West.
Leading health org shares solutions to software training needs
Developing effective new hire software training, improving patient outcomes, and supporting external learners. These are just a few of the topics touched upon in this month’s Learning Luminaries webinar, featuring Jarrod Hogan—Epic Clinical Education Manager at Intermountain Health.
Meet Intermountain Health
Intermountain Health is the largest nonprofit healthcare provider in the U.S. Intermountain West, providing medical services through 365 clinics and 33 hospitals across seven states. Jarrod Hogan leads the development and delivery of Intermountain Health’s electronic record software training, teaching new caregivers how to properly document patient care using their system.
In this interview, Hogan shares how Intermountain Health leverages the unique features of one e-learning platform to achieve a wide range goals, including managing high-volume requests, creating complex simulations, and simplifying training delivery to external learners.
Hogan’s practical tips offer something for anyone curious about improving training effectiveness. Check out the highlights below, then catch the full webinar recording here.
Learn how Intermountain Health addressed two needs through online learning
Need #1: Develop high-volume and advanced training as a small team
Intermountain Health needed a jack-of-all-trades course authoring tool. Their small eight-person team of education architects manages clinical documentation training for the organization’s 42,000+ employees. Hogan’s small team stays busy developing materials for self-paced e-learning courses and virtual, facilitator-led instruction. They juggle a high volume of requests and the need to create advanced demos, interactions, and simulations to best demonstrate the organization’s electronic record software functions.
Need #2: Support external learners seamlessly
In addition to internal training, Intermountain Health also hosts Community Connect Sites, a program that distributes training to external organizational partners. Unfortunately, Intermountain Health had poor experiences using alternative LMS systems.
Medical staff couldn’t access training when they needed it. And exporting courses as SCORM packages caused unnecessary complexity for Intermountain Health’s team, along with file storage, management, and maintenance headaches.
That was before discovering Reach 360—Articulate 360’s frictionless training distribution tool.
Solutions for delivering impactful, cost-saving training
By combining the powers of Rise 360, Storyline 360, and Reach 360, Intermountain Health was able to address all of these needs. In the webinar, Hogan shares how his team uses these tools to reduce complexity for course authors and learners alike, contributing to improved patient outcomes and significant cost savings.
Key webinar takeaways
This episode also highlights tips and resources for making a smooth transition between LMS systems.
