Presenter '13: Enabling Keyboard Shortcuts, Seeking, and Looping

Article Last Updated

This article applies to:

Want to let learners use keyboard shortcuts to navigate your published course? What about letting them scrub back and forth through content with the seekbar? Or maybe you plan to display your content on a kiosk and you want it to loop continuously? No problem! You can do all of these with Articulate Presenter.

To access these options, go to the Articulate tab on the PowerPoint ribbon, and click Player.

When the Player Properties window opens, click Other on the ribbon.

Then use any of the following features.

Enabling Keyboard Shortcuts for Learners

To let learners use keyboard shortcuts to navigate your published course, mark the box to Enable keyboard shortcuts and click OK.

Here are the keyboard shortcuts for Presenter courses:

Arrow Left, Arrow Up, or Page UpJump to the previous slide
Arrow Right, Arrow Down, or Page DownJump to the next slide
HomeJump to the first slide
EndJump to the last slide
BOpen/close the presenter bio
GOpen the Glossary tab
NOpen the Notes tab
OOpen the Menu tab
ROpen the Resources tab

Letting Learners Seek Within the Seekbar

If you've chosen to display the seekbar in your player, you can let learners use it to scrub back and forth through slide content. Just mark the box to Allow user to seek within seekbar and click OK.

If you uncheck this box, the seekbar will still display in your course if you've added it to your player. This could be useful if you want to give learners a visual indicator of the duration for each slide but you don't want them to use it to jump back and forth on the slide's timeline.

Looping a Presentation

If you want a published presentation to loop endlessly until it's closed, mark the box to Loop presentation, and click OK.

Saving Your Changes to the Player

If you click OK on the Player Properties window and save your presentation, Presenter saves your player customizations in the project file. It's a good idea, though, to save your player separately, so you can apply the same player customizations to other courses.

To save your player, click the Current Player button and choose Save. Enter a name for the player if you're prompted, and click OK.
