Studio '09: Improving Image Quality

Here are some things to consider when you need to improve the quality of images in your Articulate content:

Prevent scaling

Start with a good quality image.  Use images that are the same size as you want them to appear in your published content, and bear in mind the maximum dimensions for images in Presenter, Quizmaker, and Engage.

If images are too large or too small, scaling will occur when you resize them in your content, and this will reduce quality.  You may want to review this article, which describes scaling and how to prevent it.

Adjust the Articulate quality settings

You can also increase the quality settings for images in Presenter, Quizmaker, and Engage.

Take a screenshot of troublesome images

If you have a good quality image that is appropriately sized for your Articulate content so that it does not scale and it is still blurry, undefined, or is changing color in your published output, it's possible that the image file contains elements that are not translating well to Flash.  You should be able to correct it in the following manner:

  1. Open the image in a photo viewer, such as Windows Photo Viewer.
  2. Take a screenshot of the image in a screen capture program, such as Windows Snipping Tool.
  3. Save your screenshot as a PNG file.
  4. Insert the PNG image into your Articulate content.
