You can use the Selection Pane to make it easier to manipulate objects that may be hidden or behind other objects.  Here's how:

  1. Select an object in the slide
  2. Click on the Format menu in PowerPoint
  3. Click on the Selection Pane button in the ribbon
  4. When the Selection Pane appears on the right side of the window, you can hide objects temporarily by clicking on the Eye icon next to each object.
  5. After you hide objects, unhide each object by clicking the blank square next to it.  This will enable you to make changes to a particular object without impacting the other objects.
