Working with Videos

After opening an existing video with Video Encoder ’09, you can choose to edit your video or convert it to Flash Video (.FLV).

The following controls are available to interact with your video:

  • Play: Click the play button to play your video from the video or from the current position in the timeline (click in the timeline, then play to begin playing from that location).
  • Pause: Click the pause button to pause playback of your video.
  • Stop: Click the stop button to stop playback of your video. Clicking stop also resets the current location on the timeline to the beginning of your video.
  • Zoom Slider: Use the zoom slider to zoom in or out on your timeline, which allows you to select a precise location on your video timeline.

The following information is available about your video:

  • Position: The current position on the timeline (in minutes, if applicable, and seconds).
  • Total Duration: The total of your video (in minutes, if applicable, and seconds).
  • Trim Start: The starting point on the timeline for trimming your video (in minutes, if applicable, and seconds).  [Video Tutorial]
  • Trim End: The ending point on the timeline for trimming your video (in minutes, if applicable, and seconds).  [Video Tutorial]
  • Trim Duration: The total duration of your trim selection (in minutes, if applicable, and seconds).  [Video Tutorial]
  • Source: The dimensions (in pixels, width X height) of your source video (imported or recorded via webcam).
  • Crop: The cropped dimensions (in pixels, width X height) of your video after cropping (if applicable).  [Video Tutorial]
