Interactive markers are now fully keyboard-accessible, empowering all learners to have the same engaging experience, regardless of their abilities. Read on for details.
You don’t need to do any extra work to take advantage of these enhancements. Just install the latest Storyline 360 update (June 2020 or later), then publish your course.
Open and Close Markers
On-click markers, including title-only markers, automatically display their titles when they have focus. Press the spacebar or Enter key to open and close markers.
Markers also close when they no longer have focus—for example, when you use screen reader navigation keys, such as Down and Up arrows, to move to another object on the slide.
Show All on Hover
Show-all-on-hover markers automatically open when they have focus, and they close when they no longer have focus.
Scroll Through Label Contents
When a marker label has a scroll bar, tab to the scrolling panel, then use any of these keys to navigate.
- Home/End: Jumps to the top or bottom of the marker label
- Arrows: Scroll through the content in small increments
- Page Up/Page Down: Scroll through the content in big increments
Interact with Videos
Press the spacebar or Enter key to play and pause video files. If you enable the optional video seekbar, it responds to these keyboard shortcuts:
- Home/End: Jumps to the beginning or end of the video
- Arrows: Jumps backward or forward in 1-second increments
- Page Up/Page Down: Jumps backward or forward in 4-second increments
Note: Website videos, such as YouTube and Vimeo, aren’t keyboard-accessible in markers. To ensure an accessible experience, use video files rather than website videos in markers. If you must use a website video, place it directly on the slide or layer so learners can access it with standard keyboard navigation.
